Scope: This notice explains how GateGuard processes technical and telemetry data to authenticate legitimate client sessions, mitigate automated abuse, and protect web services.
Website operators deploying GateGuard remain independent data controllers regarding their own forms, end-user data, and retention configurations.
1. Purpose and Anti-Abuse Architecture
GateGuard provides multi-layered client verification combining cryptographic proof-of-work (PoW), environment integrity checks, and targeted threat telemetry.
To prevent automated extraction, credential stuffing, and bot orchestration without invasive user surveillance:
- Your browser computes a dynamic, cryptographically verifiable mathematical proof.
- The receiving website validates this proof against the GateGuard verification infrastructure prior to processing form submissions or sensitive actions.
- Verification status is ephemeral, session-bound, and does not serve as an enduring personal identifier.
2. Challenge Telemetry and Cryptographic Validation
To validate challenge integrity and prevent replay attacks, the verification exchange evaluates:
- Cryptographic Parameters: Account IDs, dynamic cryptographic salts, challenge signatures, single-use nonces, and time-bound token expirations.
- Network Handshake: Standard network telemetry required for secure HTTPS transport, including origin headers and infrastructure-level connection parameters.
- Integrity Validation: The engine enforces strict single-use validation, token expiration (maximum 5-minute validity window), and domain/origin binding to neutralize token harvesting or cross-origin reuse.
- Client-facing site keys serve strictly for challenge routing and public verification binding; they do not hold or expose sensitive administrative access credentials.
3. Client Interaction and Automation Defense
To differentiate human interactions from scripted headless browsers and automation frameworks (e.g., Puppeteer, Selenium), GateGuard evaluates localized runtime telemetry:
- In-Memory Heuristics: A localized buffer of interaction metrics (such as pointer movement dynamics, input cadences, and automation environment flags).
- Privacy-Preserving Summaries: The client collector processes dynamics into aggregate statistical summaries and risk vectors. Raw pointer coordinates, user keystrokes, form fields, and device biometrics are never collected or stored by this module.
- Operator Configuration: Website operators may configure risk thresholds or selectively disable behavioral collection (data-behavior="off"), relying primarily on cryptographic challenge layers.
4. Threat Intelligence and Reputation Scoring
Where enabled by the website operator to counteract distributed attacks:
- Reputation Counters: IP-related telemetry is evaluated through cryptographically salted, one-way hash counters to identify high-velocity botnets without maintaining plaintext long-term IP indexes in application logs.
- Deterministic Abuse Screening: If optional server-side content screening is engaged, submitted text payloads are analyzed transiently within dedicated processing memory to evaluate spam vectors. Analyzed content is not persisted in GateGuard’s primary application databases. Operators are contractually restricted from passing payment credentials, authentication passwords, or sensitive health data to this scanner.
5. Infrastructure, Security, and Data Retention
GateGuard applies strict least-privilege access controls and enterprise-grade data handling:
- Infrastructure Security: Backend challenge verification, policy routing, and telemetry states are hosted within secured, access-monitored infrastructure (Supabase/PostgreSQL) with hardware MFA-authenticated operational boundaries.
- Ephemerality by Design: Challenge tokens expire after 5 minutes and cannot be re-verified. Verification logs, diagnostic snapshots, and aggregated risk records are purged according to automated lifecycle rules and operator-selected retention windows.
- Account Revocation: If an operator account is terminated, associated verification keys, configuration states, and historical telemetry enter a scheduled, definitive deletion lifecycle.
6. Controller Responsibilities and User Inquiries
Because GateGuard acts as a technical processor/service provider for the host website you are accessing:
- The host website’s operator is responsible for establishing the lawful basis for abuse mitigation, publishing appropriate cookie and privacy notices, and addressing regional data subject rights (such as access, rectification, or erasure).
- Inquiries regarding specific form submissions or administrative data management should be directed to the operator of the website hosting the form. GateGuard assists operators in fulfilling valid technical requests.
